What Does Grizzly Use?

This is what I use! My sister got me a set like this for Christmas last year, and that's what I've been using ever since to record my podcasts. This is my "official Red Ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle with a compass in the stock and this thing that tells time." (Jean Sheperd, "A Christmas Story") Want one? Click on the Thingie above. You'll be helping me out, too, natch.

Sally’s Daddy vs. The Alligator

March 23rd, 2009 Posted in Uncategorized

Imagine being a school teacher, and one of your young students has a fantastic story, about three, big, ugly alligators, and one brave daddy.  And of course this happens, on a sunny afternoon, in one of our southern states. Could this true or is it one heck of an imagination of a young girl? You decide!

Directed by: Capt. John Tadrzak

Music Credits: Kevin McLeod

Featuring the voice talents of:

Decided to try to do a recap of all the projects I have going at the moment.  Or have had going, but they kind of collapsed.

Started discussing The NaNaPooPoo Podcast Community Network.  Show ended up too long.  So this is part 1 of 2.  Next part is tomorrow.

Just thought I'd let you know, at the end of the month, my reading of "Wild Animals I Have Known" by Ernest Thompson Seton will be available on Podiobooks.com.  Yes, I know, I'm jumping the gun a bit.  But (a) I'm proud of how the audiobook turned out, and (b) I'm rather proud of how the promo turned out, too.  So I wanted to share that with you now.

The official release date on Podiobooks.com will be 3/31/2009 -- which happens to be my Mom's birthday.  Being unemployed (along with the rest of the world), I'll be hard put to buy anything for her, but this, I can do.  Heck, she likes audio books.  "Look Mommie, I made it myself -- and didn't use any macaroni or glue!"

Hope you enjoy the promo.  And given you'll be getting this on Friday the 13th....  Listen Carefully!

Griz

Wild Animals I have Known, by Ernest Thompson Seton

"REDRUFF The Story of the Don Valley Partridge" Parts 5 - 7

This is the end of the book.  I hope you ... I was about to say "enjoyed..."

I hope you got as much out of the book as I did.  Parts of the stories are sad.  I have to admit, at moments in editing, I got tears in my eyes.  I imagine that was mostly from the stories themselves.  But I hope I did it justice.  I believe I did.  Thanks for listening.

Forgot to mention, I now have "A Handy Guide for Beggars," by Vachel Lindsay, available on Podiobooks.com.  I went back through all those files I'd recorded for Hiber-Nation, and did the necessary editing to fit them to the Podiobooks standards.  So no, they don't sound any better than they did, but you can use the Personalized Feed mechanism to get the book sent episode-by-episode from beginning to end.

So if you liked the book, you could recommend the Podiobooks feed to your friends.  For example.  I'm just sayin'.

I've attached the promo for "Beggars" to the feed, so you'll have a copy you could share, or play on your podcast, if ya wanna.  I'd appreciate that.

Thanks!

Griz

Back in Episode 56, I did that J Proctor Knott speech that in 1871 made Duluth one of the best-known cities in the country -- for a little while, anyway.  I really liked the way the speech turned out, mostly.

But I didn't like the way that show turned out.  Didn't like the music, didn't like the audio quality, the flaws kept picking at me.  So tonight I opened up Episode 56, re-edited it and cleaned it up a bit.  And here it is.  I liked it enough that I thought it worthwhile to get it as good as possible.

Still not perfect, but a lot better, I think.  If you missed it the first time, or even if not, I hope you like this version.

Thanks for your patience with my perfectionism.

I wanted to point you to a video broadcast on the PBS program "Nature," called "Lobo: The Wolf That Changed America."  The BBC originally did it, narrated by Richard Attenborough.  The PBS version is narrated by F. Murray Abraham.

Hard to compete with.  ;-)

This explains why "Wild Animals I Have Known" became such an important book, and to a point, why I recorded it.

Here's a link so you can find the full show and watch it on the PBS site. (http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episodes/the-wolf-that-changed-america/video-full-episode/4414/)

Just stuff that happened, that's all.

Part 1 -- Perfect Power

Traded two old laptops and a batteryless Belkin UPS for a working CyberPower 585AVR.  Messed up Spinrite & started over (sigh).  And so on.

Part 2 -- Expanding to Fill the Available Time

Even being unemployed, I've got enough to do that I'm wearing myself out.

Part 3 -- Some Day Real Soon Now

I'm gotta start reviewing Podiobooks again, Some Day Real Soon Now.  Maybe starting with David Lee Summers newest book.

PROMO: "Heirs of the New Earth"

Part 4 -- Maybe This Time

Didn't manage NaBloPoMo last month.  Trying again this month.  Probably.
