Yes, I know, I'm jumping the gun a bit. But (a) I'm proud of how the audiobook turned out, and (b) I'm rather proud of how the promo turned out, too. So I wanted to share that with you now.The official release date on Podiobooks.com will be 3/31/2009 -- which happens to be my Mom's birthday. Being unemployed (along with the rest of the world), I'll be hard put to buy anything for her, but this, I can do. Heck, she likes audio books. I hope you ... I was about to say "enjoyed..." I hope you got as much out of the book as I did. Parts of the stories are sad. I have to admit, at moments in editing, I got tears in my eyes. Wed, 11 March 2009  Forgot to mention, I now have "A Handy Guide for Beggars," by Vachel Lindsay, available on Podiobooks.com. I went back through all those files I'd recorded for Hiber-Nation, and did the necessary editing to fit them to the Podiobooks standards. So no, they don't sound any better than they did, but you can use the Personalized Feed mechanism to get the book sent episode-by-episode from beginning to end.So if you liked the book, you could recommend the Podiobooks feed to your friends. Mon, 9 March 2009  K7 Comment Line: 206-350-6909Back in Episode 56, I did that J Proctor Knott speech that in 1871 made Duluth one of the best-known cities in the country -- for a little while, anyway. I really liked the way the speech turned out, mostly. But I didn't like the way that show turned out. Didn't like the music,didn't like the audio quality, the flaws kept picking at me. So tonight I opened up Episode 56, re-edited it and cleaned it up a bit. And here it is. I liked it enough that I thought it worthwhile to get it as good as possible. Still not perfect, but a lot better, I think. If you missed it the first time, or even if not, I hope you like this version. Thanks for your patience with my perfectionism. Comments[0] |

Sat, 7 March 2009 I wanted to point you to a video broadcast on the PBS program "Nature," called "Lobo: The Wolf That Changed America." The BBC originally did it, narrated by Richard Attenborough. The PBS version is narrated by F. Murray Abraham. Hard to compete with. ;-) This explains why "Wild Animals I Have Known" became such an important book, and to a point, why I recorded it.
