What a creepy town described in the first part of this story!
Interesting phrase, that part later on about working a farm without machinery and without men to help \"makes women into warriors, or kills them\".
Uh-huh. Rings true, though. Lots of good stuff in this part of the story, like their matter-of-factness talking about tragedy in their family. There is poetry in the lives of plain people. Poets don\'t create it, they just write it down.
